New Hep B Mortality Report!

In January 2023, the Hawaiʻi Department of Health released Hawaiʻi Hepatitis B Mortality and Liver Cancer, which analyzed publicly available data to explore the burden of hepatitis B and liver cancer deaths on communities throughout the state. The report demonstrated higher rates of the hepatitis B and liver cancer mortality in Hawaiʻi, compared to the United States. The report also noted higher rates of mortality for both conditions among male and/or Asian and Pacific Islander residents in Hawaiʻi, compared to the state overall. See press release.

The Hawaiʻi Journal of Health and Social Welfare also published a peer-reviewed article on hepatitis B mortality in Hawaiʻi, which highlighted findings from the report.
