The Hawai‘i Department of Health is encouraging the public to provide their feedback on a proposed remediation plan to address the lead found in soil near Hakalau Stream Bridge and within Hakalau Beach Park in Hakalau on Hawai‘i Island. Oral and written comments on the draft Response Action Memorandum will be accepted through July 29, 2023. Please see the Hakalau Beach Park Public Notice, June 14, 2023 for further information.

The Hakalau Fact Sheet, June 14, 2023 provides information about the lead-impacted soil at Hakalau Beach Park. It also describes plans for management via the State of Hawai‘i Department of Transportation (HDOT) Lead-Impacted Soil Response Action.

The Hawaiʻi Department of Health (HDOH) is proposing a cleanup remedy for Hakalau Beach Park located in Hakalau, HI. Please see the Hakalau Remedial Alternative Memorandum, June 14, 2023 for a discussion of the potential remedies.
