On November 30, 2016, the HEER Office held a public forum entitled, “*Solving the UXO Conundrum. Protecting Life and Property from Unexploded Ordnance in the Waikoloa Maneuver Area*”. The forum was designed for County, State and Federal officials, property owners, the resort owners/managers, elected officials and the public. The event described the impacts of past “live fire” training exercises, current federal cleanup activities and joint outreach activities for the protection of residents in the Waikoloa Maneuver Area on the Big Island. Speakers included the US Army Corps of Engineers, the federal agency responsible for identifying and removing unexploded military ordnance (UXO) and protecting the public. To support the work underway by Corps and further reduce the interim hazards while clean up activities are underway, DOH presented and seeks public comment on our draft UXO Advisory and Areawide Environmental Hazard Management Plan.See below to download the agenda, powerpoint presentations and the draft AEHMP.
