Hawaiʻi has the distinction of being home to the single largest site in the nation contaminated with military munitions and unexploded ordnance, the Waikoloa Maneuver Area located on the Big Island. While cleanup is currently underway, completing it is an enormous, expensive, and long-term job. The cost to clean up the former live-fire training area is estimated at $750 million and is expected to take decades. On Wednesday, 11/30/2016, DOH will sponsor the first Hawaiʻi Forum on Munitions and Unexploded Ordnance.

Place: Waikoloa Beach Marriott Hotel
Date and Time: Wednesday 11/30/2016, 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
