CWB RELEASES RESPONSE TO COMMENTS FROM 2022 WATER QUALITY STANDARDS TRIENNIAL REVIEW

Posted on Jun 21, 2022 in Announcements

The Hawai’i State Department of Health, Clean Water Branch (CWB) has published the Response to Comments (RTC) document of the 2022 triennial review of state water quality standards.

State water quality standards (WQS) provide the regulatory basis for protecting, assessing, and restoring water bodies in Hawaii. CWB is required to review state WQS at least once every three years.

CWB completed the last triennial review of state WQS in March 2019. For 2022, CWB performed a review and proposed actions for thirteen areas of state WQS.

CWB established a 45-day public comment period from February 11 to March 30, 2022, to solicit input from the public about the proposed actions. CWB held a virtual public hearing on March 30, 2022, to receive oral comments from the public.

Written comments were submitted by three individuals, one business entity, and one county department during the public comment period. No oral comments were submitted at the virtual public hearing.
