Tobacco Prevention and Control Advisory Board
The Tobacco Prevention and Control Advisory Board (TPCAB) is established through Chapter 328L-6, Hawaii Revised Statutes (HRS). The TPCAB advises the Department of Health on the administration of the Hawaii Tobacco Prevention and Control Trust Fund and collaborates with the CDPHPD to develop a strategic state plan for tobacco prevention and control. The Hawaii Strategic Plan for Tobacco Use and Prevention Control presents a comprehensive and coordinated approach to tobacco prevention, education, and cessation in Hawaii that includes development, implementation, and evaluation of effective and cost-efficient health promotion and disease prevention programs.
TPCAB meetings are conducted quarterly and are open to the public. See the State of Hawaii Calendar of Events for upcoming meetings.
The Hawaii Tobacco Prevention and Control Trust Fund annually receives a portion of the tobacco settlement special fund through the master settlement agreement payments and is established through Chapter 328L-5, HRS. The trust fund is used for tobacco prevention and control, including reducing cigarette smoking and tobacco use among youth and adults through education and enforcement activities, and controlling and preventing chronic diseases where tobacco is a risk factor.
