Quitting Tobacco
The Hawai’i Tobacco Prevention and Control Section is dedicated to protecting the people of Hawai’i from the dangers of tobacco, nicotine addiction, and secondhand smoke.
Quitting smoking is one of the most important things you can do to reduce your risk of heart disease, stroke, COPD, and cancer. Smoking harms nearly every organ in the body and quitting has immediate and long-term benefits.
In Hawai’i smoking kills 1400 adults each year and contributes to the premature death of 21,000 keiki. It also costs the people of Hawaii $336 million in annual healthcare costs.
