ADA Coordination

On December 18, 2012, Governor Abercrombie signed Administrative Directive 12-06 which summarizes and repeals previous Administrative Directives related to the Americans with Disabilities Act. The Governor’s Directive designates the Disability and Communication Access Board as the State agency responsible for coordination of ADA activities among the Executive branches of State Government. The Americans with Disabilities Amendments Act (ADAAA) of 2008 was signed into law on September 25, 2008.  It went into effect on January 1, 2009 with final regulations  issued on March 25, 2011. On September 15, 2010, the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) issued final regulations on Title II and III of the ADA. The portion relating to access to services of state and county government went into effect on March 15, 2011.
