Tobacco Prevention and Control Tracker 2030
Hawaii Health Matters :: Indicators :: Tobacco Prevention & Control 2030
This website developed by the Hawaii Health Data Warehouse (HHDW) and the Hawaii Department of Health provides state and county-level information and data about tobacco use, health and quality of life statistics, state and local reports (BRFSS, YRBS, PRAMS, etc.), and more.
Major data sources for the tracker are:
Hawai‘i Behavior Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS)
The Hawai‘i Behavior Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS) administers an annual telephone health survey to Hawai‘i residents 18 years and older regarding health risk behaviors, preventive health practices, and healthcare access including questions about tobacco prevalence, cessation, and secondhand smoke.
Hawaiʻi Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS)
The Hawaiʻi Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS) is a bi-annual survey of public school students, grades 6-12 that collects information about health risk behaviors that contribute to the leading causes of death and disability, including tobacco use, access, cessation, and exposure to secondhand smoke.
Hawaiʻi Pregnancy Risk Assessment and Monitoring System (PRAMS)
The Pregnancy Risk Assessment and Monitoring System (PRAMS) is an annual representative survey of women who give birth in Hawai‘i. PRAMS collects state-specific, population-based data on maternal attitudes and experiences prior to, during, and immediately following pregnancy. Tobacco use is one of the areas covered by PRAMS.
Hawaiʻi Tobacco Prevention and Control Plan 2030
Hawai’i Tobacco Prevention and Control Plan 2030 The TPC Plan 2030 is the result of the input and collaboration of many public, private, and non-profit organizations, tobacco control specialists, public health advocates, policy makers, and representative communities and individuals throughout the state. Building on a framework of achieving health equity for populations at greatest risk, the plan presents bold objectives and recommendations for strategies, outputs, and targeted outcomes.
