About HPCPO
The Health Policy, Communication, and Planning Office (HPCPO) supports the Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion Division with policy development, social marketing, health communications, and planning.
Policy: HPCPO provides consultation; training and technical assistance on the development of policies; coordinates and tracks legislative bills; and develops administrative rules for the Division.
Communication: HPCPO assists the Primary Prevention and Chronic Disease Management Branch with social marketing campaigns and the development of critical health messages for the public.
Planning: HPCPO supports planning activities and work across the Division. The recent Healthy Hawai‘i Strategic Plan and Program Area Plans can be found here.
Why Inform the Public?
Educating and empowering people to live a healthy lifestyle is necessary to establish healthy choices as the norm for Hawaii residents. Through media campaigns, press events, social media, and other collaborative efforts, CDPHPD provides Hawaii residents with the information they need to make healthy choices an everyday practice.
