Hale ‘Ōpio Kaua‘i started out serving youth from across the state in our group home on Kaua‘i over forty years ago. Now we provide over twenty programs, annually reaching more than 500 young people that teach skills, strengthen relationships, and offer many other opportunities to nurture the positive development of our youth. Hale ‘Ōpio Kaua‘i Inc. is dedicated to improving the quality of life for young people, enhancing their sense of belonging, increasing self-awareness, and strengthening ‘Ohana by providing residential and community programs for education, prevention, court diversion, and treatment. Our programs and services are offered at no cost to the participating youth and their families. Since 1970, our nonprofit has championed Hawai‘i’s youth and children. We provide youth outreach, independent living facilities, therapeutic foster care, a haven for runaways, and additional support services. Our founders recognized a need for a nonprofit to step in and assist this deserving population. We continue to do that critical work today on O‘ahu, Kaua‘i, and the Island of Hawai‘i. The Intensive In-Home (IIH) Program provides services to youth and families referred by the Central, Honolulu, and Windward Family Guidance Centers. Our therapists work with youth who experience behavioral or emotional challenges in their homes and/or communities. We support youth and families by promoting stability, developing positive social and problem-solving skills, and enhancing the quality of relationships. Intensive In-Home Therapy is a time-limited, family-focused approach that incorporates a team approach. Services are delivered in school, home, and community settings, utilizing evidence-based approaches for youth with behavioral and mental health challenges. |
