CAMHD Staff, Contracted Providers and System Partners came together on Friday, August 02, 2019 for SummerCon19. During this annual conference, we celebrate each other and the hard work we have completed during the past year. Keynote speaker, Dr. Scott Shimabukuro, shared on the topic of, “A Smattering of Mattering,” which set the tone for the day, reinforcing the fact that we all matter and encouraging us to ensure that others know they matter as well.

A great array of workshops to choose from included: Role Group Activity Breakouts for Center & Branch Chiefs, Clinical Leads, MH1s, CCs, QASs, Providers & System Planners. Some of the workshop topics included “Making Meaning from Clinical Data: Bulletproof Behavioral Targets,” by Dr. Kelsie Okamura, Dr. Trina Okamoto and Dana Abdinoor, LSW; “Making Meaning in Treatment: Interventions for Youth,” by Dr. Lesley Slavin and Dr. Andrea Hiura; and “Making Meaning Through Supervision,” was presented by Keli Acquaro, FGC Chief.

Each year, CAMHD invites its sections to work on and submit a video which we call the Silver Horse Videos. This video production is a staff morale boosting activity and even spurs a bit of healthy competitive behavior as each section works together to include the theme and guidelines required for submission. Contracted providers serve as judges, this year’s Silver Horse Award went to Kealahou Services (KS), whose video, entitled, “Kealahou To Da Max, aka, The Godmother,” brought gales of laughter and enjoyment to us all. Congratulations, Kealahou Services!

A special acknowledgement goes to the SummerCon19 organizers/CAMHD’s Clinical Services Team and to the CAMHD Planner for making this conference a great success!
