Hawaii State Immunization System (HiSIS)

The Hawaii State Immunization System (HiSIS)

Public Information

The Hawaii State Immunization System (HiSIS) is a secure, confidential, cloud-based environment that stores immunization records of children and adults. Immunization registries help medical practices and other health care providers to keep patients of all ages up-to-date on vaccinations. Hawaii State immunization systems support health care providers and public health departments by collecting data on the immunization status of our communities. HiSIS allows community members to view administered immunizations in Hawaii and the capability to download their official immunization record.

Provider Information

HiSIS is a secure, web-based tool that helps healthcare providers in the following ways:

  • Shared immunization records. Records will be available across multiple sites and locations to help identify under-immunized children and pockets of unmet need.
  • Better decision making. Practices, schools, and electronic health record (EHR) systems will be able to increase on-time delivery, avoid missed immunization opportunities and reduce inappropriate immunization by using advanced immunization forecasting decision support.
  • Reduced waste and increased efficiency. Vaccine administration will be monitored and assessed on an ongoing basis to optimize distribution and use. Healthcare providers can create/reminder/recall lists of patients past due for vaccines.
  • Improved disaster preparedness by providing an essential infrastructure for responding to natural disasters, bioterrorism events, influenza pandemics and other emergencies.
  • Cost-effective. Reduced expenses and risk incurred by administering duplicate immunizations. Also, HiSIS is available to healthcare providers at no cost.
  • Inventory management. Helps healthcare providers to order vaccines, manage inventory (ability to prevent vaccine waste), and run reports.
