The Hawai`i Department of Health has shifted from using the term “fully vaccinated,” to “up to date on vaccination” as of January, 2022.
Prior, “fully vaccinated” meant a person had completed their initial series of a COVID-19 Vaccine (2 doses for Pfizer and Moderna or 1 dose of the J&J vaccine.) As more information has been learned about vaccine effectiveness and the need for boosters, the DOH recommends that all eligible people should receive a booster to be up to date on their vaccination.
Vaccine Received | Up To Date Definition |
---|---|
Pfizer-BioNTech | You are up to date 2 weeks after receiving your second dose of Pfizer AND it has either been less than 5 months since your second dose OR you have received a booster. |
Moderna | You are up to date 2 weeks after receiving your second dose of Moderna AND it has either been less than 5 months since your second dose OR you have received a booster. |
Johnson & Johnson | You are up to date 2 weeks after receiving your Johnson & Johnson vaccine AND it has either been less than 2 months since your dose OR you have received a booster. |
