FAQ
What does QPR stand for?
QPR stands for Question, Persuade, and Refer – the three simple steps anyone can help to save a life from suicide.
Why is QPR important?
Education and training are critical to the safety of people in our communities who may be considering suicide.
Can anyone learn QPR?
Just as CPR doesn’t need to be only given by medical professionals to save lives, those who learn QPR do not need to be psychiatrists, psychologists, or social workers to help save lives. Everyone should be trained, parents, friends, neighbors, teachers, students, ministers, doctors, nurses, office supervisors, squad leaders, EMTs, police officers, advisors, caseworkers, firefighters, etc.
We can all be trained to recognize and refer someone at risk of suicide.
What is the cost?
This is a free and anonymous online suicide prevention training provided by the Hawaii State Department of Health, Emergency Medical Services & Injury Prevention System Branch (EMSIPSB) in partnership with the QPR institute.
Participation is voluntary, and you may end your training at any time.
