Additional Coverage Gaps: KMCWC has 24/7 ophthalmology coverage, however, they do not surgically manage direct globe injuries that require a retina specialist. KMCWC rarely transfers out pediatric trauma patients, however, we have on rare occasion transferred out to the Level I Trauma Center (QMC Punchbowl) for OMFS, hand specialist, retina specialist.
Transfer Details: All pediatric trauma transfer calls go through our house supervisor who then connects to trauma surgeon and any required surgical subspecialists to ensure we have the resources to provide appropriate care.
