Hawaii DOH Hazardous Waste section (HW homepage)
The Department of Health Hazardous Waste Program announces that revisions to the State’s hazardous waste and used oil rules (chapters 11-260.1 to 11-279.1, Hawaii Administrative Rules) are effective September 30, 2018. The rule changes include adoption of the federal Generator Improvements Rule and Export-Import Rule.
The Hazardous Waste Program will be hosting two events to go over the new rules (both events will cover the same content). We will focus discussion on the new provisions of the Generator Improvements Rule, particularly consolidation of Very Small Quantity Generator (VSQG) waste and episodic generation for VSQGs and SQGs. Notification is required 30 days before consolidating VSQG waste and 30 days before a planned episodic event. Notifications can now be submitted online.
