The mission of the Surface Water Protection Branch is to protect and improve the quality of Hawai’i’s water resources by preventing and reducing nonpoint source pollution.


The SWPB oversees statewide compliance with Nonpoint Source (NPS) laws, supports communities working on watershed-based plans, and funds projects that improve watershed health to reduce NPS pollution.
