HOW IT WORKS

AlohaSafe Story is based on GPS technology.  When the app is activated on your phone, it anonymously logs your location every few minutes.  You don’t need to do anything once it is downloaded and activated.  The AlohaSafe Story app only logs the time of your location and the latitude and longitude coordinates if in the same area for at least 5 minutes.  The data is saved locally on your phone for 21 days.  No other personally identifiable data is collected, stored, or exchanged by the AlohaSafe Story app.

If a user tests positive for COVID-19 and would like to share their data with DOH, a DOH contact tracer will generate a 6-digit code that the user will enter into the AlohaSafe Story app on their device so the data can be uploaded.
