Hawai‘i State Health Improvement Plan
Background:
A standard practice in public health, a community or state health improvement plan (CHIP/SHIP) is a systematic way to tackle long-term health challenges in the population. During the development process stakeholders identify health priorities, set measurable objectives, and develop actions and strategies to achieve goals. Healthy Hawai‘i 2030 is Hawaii’s most recent SHIP and addresses health issues within nine key health topics. Each of these nine priority health areas is represented by one or more units at the Hawaii Department of Health (DOH) already dedicated to addressing health issues in the respective area.
See below for Healthy Hawai‘i 2030, published as a separate chapter for each health priority, as well as the first annual update to the SHIP containing the most recent data on health indicators, and finally, the SHIP Scorecard providing an at-a-glance snapshot of how the state is progressing toward its health goals.
