Office of Public Health Preparedness sponsors ‘Ōlelo student media contest

Calling all student filmmakers and stars of the future! If you haven’t already heard, ‘Ōlelo Community Media is sponsoring a student video contest, the 2019 Youth Xchange Statewide Student Video Competition (YXC2019): olelo.org/yxc2019.

One of their categories is sponsored by the Department of Health’s Office of Public Health Preparedness (that’s us!). Its focus is on our core message of “Prepare NOW”: being prepared for emergencies and disasters by having necessities, organization, and wellness.

So if you’re a student (elementary, middle, or high school) and feeling creative, maybe you and your friends can put together a video about your family emergency kit, your emergency plan, how you help other family members (especially those like the very young or the elderly who might need extra assistance), how you help your neighbors in a disaster, how you make sure your pets are prepared, how you practice wellness, etc.
