YouthLine, a national peer-to-peer youth crisis line and youth development organization, is launching on Maui and is seeking a dynamic Hawai’i Director. The ideal candidate will be passionate about youth and youth mental health, have a strong background in mental health, and demonstrate leadership and commitment to community collaboration and partnership. The Hawai’i Director will help shape and launch the new YouthLine on Maui and will lead YouthLine Program’s statewide initiatives in Hawai’i. The first project for the Hawai’i Director will be launching YouthLine on Maui, including working with community partners, identifying a location for YouthLine, outreach and engagement with youth, parents and community members, and recruiting and ultimately supervising youth volunteers to work on the YouthLine crisis line. As YouthLine grows, the Hawai’i Director will help recruit and then supervise a small team to grow and develop YouthLine services on Maui and across Hawai’i. The YouthLine Hawai’i Director will work closely with YouthLine leadership and community partners to help ensure that YouthLine fits seamlessly into the fabric of support for youth in Hawai’i. The Director is also responsible for ensuring YouthLine Hawai’i maintains the high clinical and operational standards of excellence that are central to YouthLine’s success. This position will supervise an Education and Outreach Manager and two Clinical Supervisors. This position will be a Director role in Hawai’i representing both YouthLine and Lines for Life in statewide efforts related to youth mental health and youth suicide and crisis intervention and a Deputy Director on the YouthLine National Leadership team supporting the nationwide efforts.
Preferred Qualifications
- Crisis Intervention training and experience – ASIST and safeTALK certification preferred.
- Knowledge of school-focused evidence-based suicide prevention and postvention and mental health models, procedures, and trainings – RESPONSE program, Connect Suicide Postvention, Sources of Strength, and Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) preferred.
- Innovation: the ability to conceptualize and implement new ideas to improve relationships, services and procedures.
Travel and Schedule Requirements
- Travel may be required throughout Maui County and the state of Hawai’i for meetings, trainings, and outreach.
- This position must be available to work during YouthLine hours of operation, which are currently between 2 pm – 8 pm, including working some weekends, with availability for trainings and meetings during the day.
- This position requires the ability to work from the Hawai’i office locations regularly.
