Food Product Submission Procedures

The following is the process for authorization of food products for the Hawaii WIC Program:

1. The manufacturer is to mail a written request for authorization of a product by JANUARY 1, 2019.

2. The food company representative shall furnish the Hawaii WIC Program with the food company’s summary of current distribution in writing and shall include, but not be limited to:

  • Product Name
  • Product Sizes
  • Cost
  • Product flats or labels for each product (may be submitted as a PDF file with readable nutrient facts and ingredients)
  • Summary of current distribution in Hawaii (store names & locations)
  • Identification of wholesaler(s) carrying the product

3. Foods and their packaging shall be evaluated by the Food Selection Committee (FSC) based on the following factors:

  • Nutritional Requirements
  • Acceptability of Foods
  • Availability of Foods
  • Cost

All product submission for the next Hawaii WIC Program Food List MUST BE RECEIVED BY JANUARY 1, 2019.  Submit required information and attachments/enclosures to:

Submission does not guarantee that the product(s) submitted will appear on the Hawaii WIC Program Food List.  The Hawaii WIC Program reserves the right to change the approved food list at any time.
