·      Accounts for about 87% of all cases

·      If an ischemic stroke occurs, the goal of treatment is to bust or remove the clot

Transient Ischemic Attacks (TIAs)

·      A short-term clot or blockage in the brain

·      Temporary symptoms may occur

·      TIAs are WARNING STROKES – call 9-1-1

Hemorrhagic Stroke illustrationHemorrhagic Stroke (Bleeds)

·      Occurs when a weakened vessel ruptures and bleeds into the brain

·      Accounts for about 13% of all cases

·      If a hemorrhagic stroke occurs, the goal of treatment is to stop the bleeding
