e-cigaretteTobacco use among Hawaii’s public middle and high school students has declined over the past decade, but according to the latest findings of the biennial Hawaii Youth Tobacco Survey, increased use of new tobacco products such as electronic cigarettes, water pipes and roll-your-own cigarettes could reverse this positive trend.

The Youth Tobacco Survey is conducted by the Departments of Health and Education and results are weighted by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to represent all public school students in Hawaii. Detailed data tables by state, sex, grade and race/ethnicity are available on the Hawaii Health Data Warehouse website at www.hhdw.org.
