The Hawaii Drowning and Aquatic Injury Prevention Advisory Committee, coordinated by the EMS and Injury Prevention System Branch of the DOH has partnered with the Hawaii Tourism Authority for a statewide summer drowning prevention campaign themed “Respect Our Ocean; Know Your Limits”. Starting in June, select outdoor malls across the state will display snorkel safety banners with tips to keep visitors as well as residents safe; in July, newly cut ocean safety videos will begin playing at all major airports. Ocean Safety Week is the last week of July and will culminate in a statewide ocean safety conference on Kauai themed “Ko’u Kuleana” “My Responsibility”.
